Citizens Patrol –

Citizens Patrol volunteers are trained to look for suspicious or criminal activity in a safe and non-confrontational manner.  They travel throughout the neighbourhood on foot, observing and listening to the public. Our patrol teams are easily identifiable by their orange jackets and/or blue vests. 

Community concerns are reported to the Community Policing Centre. Potentially serious situations are also reported to the VPD so immediate concerns can be addressed and longer-term trends can be identified.

Citizens Patrol activities include:

• distributing crime-prevention information
• answering community questions
• locating abandoned and stolen vehicles
• reporting suspicious activities, crimes in progress and quality of life concerns
